Ignite Robotics – First Time Offering 3D Printing at Cherry Crest! 🚀
Fun fact: Many of our robotics team members master 3D design. When a specific robot part doesn’t exist, they design and print their own! Learning 3D modeling is a powerful skill that helps students customize, improve, and innovate their robot builds.
In this project-based course, students will use Tinkercad to design and create their own 3D models, turning imagination into real objects. Along the way, they’ll build digital literacy, strengthen spatial reasoning, and gain confidence using design tools while discovering how creativity and technology work together. Best of all, students will take home their own 3D-printed creations!
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling and 3D printing
- Design and build iconic structures and custom creations
- Develop spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Explore how design, creativity, and technology connect
- Collaborate and share ideas in a supportive learning environment
Important!
- 2025-26 school year: PTSA membership required for participation in the program. Please follow link to enroll: https://www.cherrycrest-ptsa.org/join/
- Vendor reserves the right to cancel the program if below the minimum enrollment numbers, and (please provide refund policy)
- Cherry Crest reserves the right to cancel the program if there is an issue with broken/missing items in the classroom.
- No food, candies, or snacks allowed in the classroom.
- In case of severe weather conditions, the vendor is responsible for monitoring the BSD website (https://www.bsd405.org/) for closures/cancellations of after-school activities and for contacting parents directly.
- In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather, the vendor will issue a refund but will not extend the program dates.
- We recommend that parents copy and paste the program date/time on a cellphone, set a reminder, and print a copy for the student’s backpack for reference.
- Parents are responsible for contacting the vendor directly 24 hours prior if they are not able to attend a session.
- By participating, parents agree to arrive at Cherry Crest at least 10 minutes before the end of each session and wait outside for the student’s dismissal.
